A tribute to the College Football Hall Of Fame Coach at Florida State.   As you may know, dad-gum it, Bobby Bowden has decided to retire at the young age of 80. (I hope I look that good at 80).   Here’s some quotes from the man who took a football program that was about to be canceled and turned it into the best in the land.   From various sources including the P.N.J.:

Moral victories are like a six-foot man drowning in three feet of water.   He’s still dead.

When I was at Alabama all I heard was “beat Auburn.”   When I was at West Virginia, all I heard was “beat Pittsburgh.”   When I got to Florida State, their bumper stickers read “beat Anybody.”

I thought Joe was going to tackle the dad-gum horse.   I was gonna tell him, ‘go high on him, don’t go low.’

He makes a 3 yard run look like an All-American highlight.

A better ending could not have been scripted.   Of course, if we had won, that would have been better.

He doesn’t know the meaning of the word fear.   In fact, he doesn’t know the meaning of a lot of words.

I’ve always said if short hair and perfect manners won football games, Army and Navy would play for the national championship every year.

If somebody mistreats you, treat ‘em good.   That kills ‘em.

I guess I’ll retire someday, if I live that long.

Happiness is not money, and it’s not fame, and it’s not power.   Happiness is a good wife, a good family and good health.

and this one

That sounds like Florida State doesn’t it?

Well coach, the sounds out of Tallahassee back in 1976 were nothing like the sounds that you brought to the city.   God Bless you and thanks for everything that you did for us.

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF OUR PROPERTY IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

ACCORDING TO THE TAX COLLECTOR?

Over one half of the property sales which are occurring in the state of Florida today, as of October 27, 2009, are either short sales, foreclosed properties or bank owned properties.   However, the tax collector/assessor has taken the position that the sales of   those properties do not qualify for determination for value purposes in assessing taxes.   In other words, a property that may have been worth $1,000,000.00 and assessed at that value three years ago, which has subsequently sold at $300,000.00 may still be assessed at the million dollar rate.   According to the tax assessor properties which are purchased by third parties without any collusion or any connection to the seller which fall into those categories do not meet the criteria for reconsideration of the taxable value.   I know the state of Florida and our counties are desperately in need of cash.   However, is it fair for the property owners to be assessed taxes on property which is worth 30% to 40% less than the actual value?   Please if anyone has any comments or questions, speak out.

Since the tax assessor/collector is unwilling to consider sales of properties which are bank owned or foreclosed in order to reconsider the value for tax, this might be one other reason why property owners may wish to consider selling the property to third party buyers for the value they are able to obtain at current market rate rather than to allow those issues to occur.   In other words, it may be an additional incentive to do a private sale that would allow the new buyer to get a new assessed value and may be a potential bargaining chip. Please give this serious consideration.
